Lynn Rushton
There is something elegant and almost omniscient in the filmmaking of Mark Birnbaum. His process is a bit like a poem being read in a thunderstorm. The storm rolls through — what remains is his clean picture and the voice of a poet.
He works in all sorts of conditions. It’s cold. It’s dark. It’s a disaster. Mark is there with his camera making something wonderful. He creates narratives painted in air.
